The Grand Valley Business Times
Two Grand Junction advertising executives mark 20 years in the industry.
Dan Ryan, creative director of Ryan, Sawyer & Whitney (RSW), and Lee Whitney, chief information officer of the Grand Junction firm, both have worked for two decades in the advertising and marketing industry.
In May 1990, Ryan launched Ryan & Associates Advertising, an agency that focused on creative production and media placements for advertising clients. The same year, Whitney founded L.A. Whitney & Associates, a firm specializing in strategic marketing consulting.
In the mid-1990's the two companies began collaborating informally for the benefit of mutual clients. In 1998, they merged to form Ryan, Whitney & Company.
"After running a creative shop for eight years, I recognized the need for a more integrated approach to advertising and marketing," Ryan said. "Because Lee and I were already having success working together, it made sence to formally combine our skills."
Ryan said that same need to evolve again arose in July 2009, when he and Whitney merged with Tom Y. Sawyer and the Synergist Group to form Ryan, Sawyer and Whitney.
"By 2009, we could see that we needed to expand our capabilities again to include digital marketing, social media, public relations and business strategy consulting," Ryan said. "Being successful in this fast-changing industry is about evolving with the times to effectively meet our clients' advertising, marketing and business development needs."
RSW integrates marketing, advertising, public relations and customer relationship systems to bridge the gap between marketing and profitability.
